Plants Who Speak

Plants who Speak is an ongoing project exploring oral history and immigrant women's intimate relationships with medicinal plants. These stories teach us about plants’ conscious ability to adapt, and they urge us to reflect about our society. How can we see immigration through an anti-colonial lens? What else can we learn from plants? Are plants speaking to us through oral history so we can learn from them?

In the gatherings, we connect with our ancestral memory to remember the stories of our elders' plant medicine. From a decolonized perspective, we hear the voices and lessons of Plants who Speak, and through art, we recreate those histories to continue fertilizing our internal soil. These spaces allow us to imagine a new world, without borders and with fertile land, where we could grow spiritually, expand our consciousness, and live a dignified life.
